Medellín is the second largest city in Colombia (after Bogota) with an estimated population of approximately 4 million people. It feels like a grand city because its unique position in the Aburrá Valley combined with its steep mountains means you can see far into the city no matter where you are! Also, the endless, unique brick skyscrapers dominate the valley resulting in a unique and ever-expanding cityscape unlike anywhere else.

Areas:

El Poblado - the upbeat tourist hub of Medellín

Laureles - university district with a vibrant nightlife and trendy cafe scene

Envigado - quiet residential area close to El Poblado

Belén - a residential area best for cheaper accommodation and long-term rentals

El Centro/La Candelaria - Medellín's historical city center and business hub (downtown Medellin)

There specialty seems to be rice with your choice of meat and veggies. I really enjoyed the chow mein with chicken. The service is great.

Restaurante Abbiocco

It is an excellent restaurant with Italian food and Colombian flavors. The service is excellent.

There is an incredible view from the cable metro.

Jardín Botánico de Medellín

It is a great place to walk and see beautiful plants and people. There are iguanas present. The entrance is free, but you must register at the gate (or prior if you show proof of prior registration). People sell water at the entrance and say it’s cheaper (2,000 pesos) outside than inside. They are correct.

It has a fantastic view. The staff is super friendly. I went on a Sunday, and the first thing I found was the 2x1 in great cocktails.

There are plenty of shots with different style and flavors. The place is small. The music is great and the people are beautiful.
