The Benefits of A Moderate Level Of Narcissism!

Everyone displays narcissistic behaviors, so it doesn't always mean they have a personality disorder. - Author

Narcissistic personality disorder is identified by exaggerated self-importance, grandiose thinking, a lack of empathy, feeling entitled, taking advantage of others, and the need and desire for constant praise and admiration. This is hardly a set of desirable traits, and people with this disorder can struggle in their everyday lives, especially if they experience the "vulnerable" type of narcissism based in low self-esteem. Individuals may present well in public and on social media, but the presentation may not match the inner turmoil they endure. Some researchers have reported as a demographic group, actors and entertainers have more narcissistic traits than the rest of the U.S. population, but be sure not to generalize high narcissistic traits to all celebrities. Some celebrities are highly empathetic and excel due to capturing emotional empathy in their roles, music, and other identities.

An increasing number of individuals are exhibiting narcissistic traits, a trend fueled by the selfie culture and me-first mindset. Even here on social media, we feel good when we obtain a like or follow (by the way like and follow me 😂❤️). Everyone at some point wants to be special, recognized, and stand out which means most, if not all individuals have various levels of narcissistic traits. While narcissistic traits may be viewed by many in society as a negative, researchers have revealed that a moderate amount of narcissism may have benefits!

Individuals with a moderate amount of narcissism can be self-confident, mentally tough, and form healthy habits. They feel confident in their ability to handle challenges, and believe they have or can develop the skills to be successful. Individuals with a moderate amount of narcissism see opportunities to learn, where others see failures. They are resilient, revealing strength and endurance, in turn making them more likely to succeed and experiences fewer depressive symptoms when rejected. Individuals with a moderate level of narcissism seem better able to cope with anxiety, particularly in social situations. They are more likely to pursue higher level jobs, promotions, and perform well at higher levels. They also appear to maintain healthy habits, specifically by engaging in exercise. Grooming and appearance are important to them because they care about how they look and feel. The most important thing to remember is moderation is the key difference between healthy narcissisms and unhealthy narcissism. #LoveYou #LoveOthers #Balance

5 Tips to Strengthen Moderate Narcissism:

Know Thyself

Be aware of your personal tendencies to think of you! Are you taking or receive gifts (money, time, energy, space etc.) from others with little or no investment in return? Our own narcissism can be invisible to us, so asking a loved one may shed light on our level of narcissism.

Turn Up Your Empathy Detector

People high in narcissism are less likely to sense what other people are feeling because they are more tuned into their own emotions. Turning up your empathy will move you closer to moderate vs high narcissism.

Find Balance In Leadership Situations

You may feel eager to take control and direct, and if you are not over powering others, a leader may be warranted. If you find you are constantly taking over, take a step back instead of forward.

Protect Your Health

Gain control over your diet and exercise habits without becoming overly preoccupied with your appearance. Encourage others to pursue health vs a specific presentation or body type.

Help Others

People high in narcissism tend to look for gains and how people can benefit them. When you help others, you practice stepping outside of your light to potentially give light or give space for someone else light to shine. We see your light and your willingness to share the spotlight!
